## The lesson

There is no single best visual AI service. Build a small toolkit rather than an allegiance.

Product names and features change. Choosing the right category is the durable skill.

Cloud services may offer stronger models; on-device services may offer greater privacy, offline use or control.

### Five useful categories

- Conversational image describers for photographs, objects and scenes.
- Text and document recognition for exact wording, forms and structure.
- Multiple-model comparison for stronger evidence than one description.
- Private or on-device processing for sensitive material or offline access.
- Human visual assistance when accuracy, judgement or consequences require it.

### Choose according to the job

- Do you need an overview, exact text, structure or judgement?
- How sensitive is the image?
- What would happen if the answer were wrong?
- Can you operate the service comfortably with your access method?

## Try it
