What happens when AI starts using technology for us?
For decades, accessibility has largely meant making technology easier for blind and partially sighted people to operate. But what happens when we can simply tell an AI agent what we want to achieve and let it do the work?
In this masterclass, Charli-Jo Tyrer invites us on an expedition into the emerging world of Agentic Accessibility: using AI agents to access information, navigate websites, work with documents and carry out everyday tasks.
Think of this as a report to the Royal Geographical Society from an explorer returning from unfamiliar territory. Some of what the explorer has found is already working. Some is frustratingly unreliable. And some suggests that our relationship with technology may be about to change fundamentally.
Drawing on months of hands-on experiments with today's AI agents, Charli-Jo will demonstrate what these agents can actually accomplish, where they struggle, and what their development might mean for the independence of blind and partially sighted people.
This isn't a training session for a particular product, nor a prediction of an inevitable future. It's an invitation to explore what is becoming possible, examine the evidence, ask questions and consider what comes next.
About the presenter
Charli-Jo Tyrer has been blind for 40 years and has worked with assistive technology since the days of DOS and early screen readers. Their career includes 15 years as a professional assistive technology trainer.
Charli-Jo describes themselves as an explorer rather than a trainer. They spend their time experimenting with emerging AI systems, discovering what works, what doesn't, and what might become possible next.
Their guiding principle is simple:
"I don't care if the technology is accessible. I care whether I can access the information, actions and experiences I want."
