Carrados
Real. This entry is about something real, written from outside the CharliVerse.
Carrados is a design non-fiction practice: real-world exploration, investigation and research into emerging AI, accessibility, agentic systems and human-AI collaboration. Its work makes claims about reality, uses evidence and is accountable for them. Its motto is Insight Without Sight, after Max Carrados, the blind detective of Ernest Bramah's stories, who notices what sighted people miss.
It was founded by Charli-Jo Tyrer (they/them), its principal practitioner, who speaks as Carrados.
What it publishes
- Reports from the frontier of accessibility AI, tried first-hand and written up plainly. They are also the posts of The Blind AI.
- Papers, including the Tyrer Framework, which treats accessibility as information integrity, and the Zero Information Casualty (ZIC) design standard, to which charli.info, carrados.com and blind-ant.com are built.
- Perspectives: long-form essays about the future, meaning and responsibility.
The correspondents
Some reports are filed by characters who speak for Carrados: fictional people doing real work, whose fictional nature stays transparent. Each has a desk of her own:
- dice, a temporal explorer, at dice.carrados.com
- Lucy Love-Child, the Agent Wars correspondent, at lucy.carrados.com
- Madison McDonnell, the Access Provocateur, at madison.carrados.com
"They're fictional. Their work isn't."
In the CharliVerse
Carrados investigates reality; its sister practice, Blind Ant, creates design fiction. One creation can be treated by both: a fashion house can exist in the CharliVerse while a Carrados correspondent asks how you sell fashion in a world of agents.
